WHEN I first met Francis and Francesca (not their names), I was immediately drawn to their style - simple, straightforward, no-nonsense yet refined. Our subsequent conversations and meetings further reinforced my first impression and through those, it did confirm what they wanted in their design: Bright and Airy, Uncluttered and Timeless.

To realize their dream home, I understood the need to incorporate 1) clean lines 2) subtle lighting and 3) functional elements throughout the spaces to bring warmth and sophistication.

on.

Before the renovation, there was a dull appearance in the home - dark-coloured cabinetries and window grilles that would seem to suggest a 'bird trapped in a prison cage'. The following pictures might lend a hand to show you what I might mean.

Highlights of the Project -

  • Feature Wall: Wall intentionally covered in large, light wood panels seamlessly concealing a door to the helper’s room, maintaining a clean and uncluttered look.

  • Shelving Design: Shelves with warm LED strip lighting give a soft glow, enhancing elegance and practicality, and allowing for tasteful displays.

  • Panelling: The light wood finish creates a sense of warmth and balance, contrasting beautifully with the modern lines and lighting.

  • Lighting Choice: LED lighting plays a key role in this design, offering both functionality and atmosphere. The hidden cove lights around the TV area and display shelves contribute to a soft, inviting ambiance, ideal for a living space.

  • Floor Tiles: Large format floor tiles to reduce grout lines. With fewer lines, the flooring looks more continuous and seamless, giving the space a clean and sleek appearance. The uninterrupted surface creates an open and expansive feel, which is especially beneficial in smaller spaces to make them appear larger.

  • Living Room Windows: Intentional use of white louvre bifold in the living room to ensure optimal airflow whenever privacy is needed -- all the while achieving design harmony across the space.

Helper's Room: Notice in the space planning above where the helper's room is located.
